Dental Guided Bioflim Therapy GBT

Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is an advanced dental treatment approach designed to thoroughly remove dental plaque biofilm and calculus from teeth and soft tissues in the oral cavity. It’s a systematic method that involves the use of specific tools and techniques to achieve optimal oral health.

Here’s how it typically works:

  1. Assessment: Dr. Mina Levi  or our dental hygienist assesses the patient’s oral health, including the extent of plaque biofilm and calculus buildup.
  2. Disclosure: Special disclosing agents may be used to highlight areas of plaque biofilm accumulation on the teeth.
  3. Biofilm Removal: Ultrasonic scalers, hand instruments, and air-polishing devices are used to remove dental plaque biofilm and calculus from the teeth and along the gumline. Air-polishing involves the use of a high-pressure stream of water, air, and fine powder particles to gently and effectively remove stains, plaque, and biofilm from the tooth surfaces.
  4. Polishing: After the biofilm and calculus have been removed, the teeth are polished to smooth the surfaces and remove any remaining stains.
  5. Fluoride Treatment: In some cases, a fluoride treatment may be applied to help strengthen the teeth and prevent tooth decay.

GBT is particularly effective for patients with gingivitis, periodontitis, or those at risk of developing these conditions due to poor oral hygiene habits. It offers a more comfortable and efficient alternative to traditional scaling and polishing methods, and it helps to improve overall oral health and prevent dental diseases.

It’s important to note that GBT should be performed by trained dental professionals who have experience in using the specialized equipment and techniques involved in the procedure.
